Crab-ulous Smothered Burrito - p318

Review: I did not dig this recipe at all. My husband and I both stopped eating it. I'm not sure if it was the crab or the lemon-pepper seasoning but something was not tasty AT ALL. The concept sounded pretty good and after I made it through the crab-stuffed mushrooms, I thought I'd be ok with this recipe. Alas, I was not. I ate 3 bites and said I wasn't wasting my points on the rest.

Crazy-good Cold Sesame Noodles (vegetarian) - p264

Review: I was a little hesitant to make this recipe. #1 it has tofu shirataki which always freaks me out and #2 it had peanut butter and it was cold. Just seemed like it wouldn't turn out very good. But it was actually very good. I definitely think that if I had some time to plan that I would make this again. As it was, I didn't think it all the way through so when I saw "cold sesame noodles," I guess I thought room temperature was good enough but I think it actually would have been a lot better if I had chilled it. Also, not sure I'd call it sesame noodles but more like pad thai (and the HG pad thai recipe wasn't as peanut buttery as this one).

Freakishly Good Frozen Hot Chocolate (vegetarian) - p178

Review: The recipe I have says you can make this with either vanilla or white chocolate syrup so I made one of each. My husband liked the former and I liked the latter. They were both delicious but a hard sale now that we're getting into the cooler temperatures. Also, a bunch of steps and waiting for stuff to cool to make frozen hot chocolate. I'd rather stick to HOT hot chocolate.

Merry Marinated Veggies (vegetarian) - p

Review: So, I realize that this recipe doesn't look too great but it was pretty good. Especially if you like cucumbers in vinegar (which I don't). Everything marinades for a day or so and takes on a lot of balsamic flavor which makes it very flavorful but still crunchy. I weighed out 1 oz of regular Tortilla Scoops for something and it looked pathetic. It was 3 points and I think I got 4 chips. I showed my husband, "Look, I can have these 4 chips or half of this bowl of vegetables." He told me that I should NOT go into the infomercial business since he didn't think this recipe looked appetizing. However, you gotta give props that it HAS some impressive stats. I think 1 day of marinading works better than more. The vinegar gets a little strong after that.

Sassy Salsa Pumpkin Soup (vegetarian) - p52

Review: I've hit a pile of good recipes at once. This soup was delicious. And freaking easy to make. A few canned ingredients, thrown in a pot and BAM, you got yummy soup. The ONLY drawback of this soup was that it was hard to partition in serving sizes because all the ingredients fell to the bottom and you couldn't see them. But it was really good. I like the pumpkin exchange for a purely tomato based soup too. Good change.

Death by Chocolate Cupcake (vegetarian) - p184

Review: Definitely a yummy, normal-sized cupcake. It was nice that I wasn't eating some teeny, tiny cupcake and it tasted like normal too. Everyone who tried them loved them. My only drawback is that I get confused of when to refrigerate and when not to so I didn't and 3 days later, the cupcakes went bad. So sad, too, because they were SO good. I was rationing them out.
It's always a sad day when we lose a chocolate comrade.

Kickin' Chicken Pot Pie - p128

Review: So, this recipe was REALLY delicious. I mean, REALLY. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't eat peas so I was on my own for this one. The recipe makes 4-5pt servings. I felt that the servings were a little small. Two servings might have filled me up but at a whopping 10.5 points, I'm not sure it would be worth it. So, despite it's yumminess, I will have to pass on the indulgence of pot pie and stick with some chicken noodle soup. Good bye, Pot Pie.
